For my money they are like the pinnacle of FPS gameplay. I just love having that option to stealth things if you want, and the game gives you a decent amount of tools to do so.Ĭall it my guilty pleasure, but I just really love these games. That's my preferred way to play, until I'm spotted, then everyone dies.
#FAR CRY 3 GAMEPLAY FULL#
But if you want to go full stealth and ghost bases and such, these games actually do a surprisingly good job at being fully competent stealth games. You can go balls to the wall and destroy everything, the game gives you the tools to do that. But I find it to be an oddly satisfying gameplay loop.Īnd I almost forgot, perhaps the best part of recent FC games- you can play them how you want. I realize this is probably the biggest point of contention here, as some people just hate the Ubisoft style of open world gameplay with certain areas to capture, towers, etc. With wildlife, hidden treasures, side missions, whether taking main roads and tramping through the wild on foot. I find braindead AI can really ruin an otherwise fun FPS, so the best thing I can say is that the AI never really seems to hinder the game, which is a W in my book.Īnd of course, the open worlds are fun as hell to explore. The AI isn't particularly standout, but at least in FC6 they're decent enough to actually move and try to change positions and tactics. Water vehicles are amazing too, those jet skis are just great fun. I also LOVE the air vehicles, the helicopters are fun as hell and control great. Love the land vehicles like ATVs, jeeps, cars/trucks, and the horses in FC6 are dope. When you land headshots it just feels awesome, and certain weapons just feel really powerful when peppering enemies in the chest and whatnot. Also the hit markers and feedback feel soooo good. Maybe I'm misremembering FC3 & 4, but I distinctly remember feeling the same about FC5 & New Dawn. I usually struggle to aim in FPS on controller, but in FC6 it just doesn't feel like a bother at all. I also feel like the the stick aim is just perfect. For example, Snipers feels more lumbering to ADS, while SMGs feel snappier.

Going in and out of sprint also feels really good.ĪDS feels good depending on the weapon you have equipped, with proper weight and speed given to each. Running/Sprinting feels right, there's a short acceleration period followed by a "cruising speed" so to speak, and eventually a fatigued/slower run speed. Climbing, hurdling, jumping animations feel realistic and properly weighted. I know I know, sacrilege, but these games just control so well on controller. I'll preface this by saying that despite playing all of them on PC, I like to use an xbox controller to play. At the risk of getting loads of disagreement, I wanted to state that I think the recent Far Cry games (from FC3 onward) have almost perfect FPS gameplay to me. Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion here.
